My first trip outside Belgium after arriving here was a couple of days in Paris with my sister. She had come a few days after our arrival to spend some time with us during her summer break as well as to help us settle in. She was invaluable when it came to unpacking and setting up our apartment — and I loved having the company for exploring our new city!
We decided to go to Paris because it is a very easy trip from Brussels and it is somewhere she’s always wanted to visit. She’s studied French in school for many years and I liked the idea of her putting it to use! We had a great time together and walked all around the city. I saw many of the same sites as my first trip with Grant, but also did some new ones — and I could never tire of any of them.
For our trip, we got the Pais Museum Pass for me and when I was about to buy it for her, the guy selling it to me told me I didn’t need it for her because she was young enough to get free entrance to most places and would qualify to go in the fast lane with me and my pass. I am very thankful he told me she wouldn’t need one, as it saved us an unnecessary expense in a rather expensive place.
Paris is a great city (obviously most people think so, as it is the most popular tourist destination in the world), though I would definitely recommend not visiting in the summer! The weather was lovely, if a bit hot, but there were sooo many tourists. I’m looking forward to my next trip there, whenever it may be!
